Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of Vitapex paste combined with minocycline hydrochloride ointment in the treatment of periapical periodontitis with periodontitis. Methods Sixty patients with apical periodontitis and periodontitis admitted to the Third People's Hospital of Nanyang City from December 2020 to June 2023 were divided into an experimental group (30 cases treated with Vitapex paste combined with minocycline hydrochloride ointment) and a control group (30 cases treated with conventional root canal filling regimen), and the clinical effects of the two groups of patients were compared. Results The total effective rate of the experimental group (93.33%) was higher than that of the control group (73.33%). After treatment, the gingival index (GI), periodontal pocket depth (PD), plaque index (PLI), and gingival sulcus bleeding index (SBI) were all lower than those of the control group. The scores of the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of Vitapex paste and minocycline hydrochloride ointment can improve the clinical efficacy of patients with apical periodontitis and periodontitis, effectively improve periodontal indicators, and improve prognosis.
