Abstract:【Objective】To discuss the ultrasound imaging of anterior carotid sheath and esophagus at disc plane and its clinical guiding significance in cervical surgery.【Methods】The relationship, orientation position, anatomical distance were examined between anterior carotid sheath and esophagus at disc plane of 30 normal adults.【Results】Precervical ultrasound can clearly detect the position relationship between the cervical disc, carotid sheath and esophagus. The neck esophagus gradually moves from the midline to the left side in the downward front of the cervical spine. In the cervical disc plane, the right distance between the carotid sheath and the esophagus is greater than which of the left side.【Conclusion】The distance between the right anterior carotid artery sheath and the esophagus is wider than the left side.In the minimally invasive disc puncture or surgical operation,in order to avoid esophageal injury the right access is a relatively safer operating path compared to the left access.
