Objective: To investigate the effect of hepatocirrhosis on metastasis of colorectal carcinoma to the liver. Methods: An retrospective analysis was made on 872 cases of colorectal carcinoma were treated from July 1997 to Oct. 2003. The incidence of metastatic hepatic carcinoma was compared between the patients with colorectal carcinoma concomitanted hepatocirrhosis and the patients with colorectal carcinoma without hepatocirrhosis. Results: The incidence of metastatic hepatic carcinoma in the patients with colorectal carcinoma concomitanted hepatocirrhosis [7.1% (7/98)] was significantly lower the patients with colorectal carcinoma without hepatocirrhosis [24.3% (188/774)] (P<0.01). Conclusion: Hepatocirrhosis can decrease metastasis of colorectal carcinoma to the liver.
