Objective: To probe into the therapeutic mechanism of loosing therapy by observing the changes of knee joint degeneration model before and after its contracted tissues were locally loosened. Methods: Thirty-six rabbits were divided into three groups at random: 10 in the normal group, 10 in the blank model group and 10 in the loosening therapy group to observe the change of the range of the passive knee movement in each group through gross anatomy and x-rays. Results: After the passive movement in the model therapy group was compared with that of the blank model group and the normal group, the difference had the statistic significance (P<0.05). A slight change was found in the knee joint and x-rays with the naked eyes. Conclusion: The local loosening therapy can improve the range of passive movement of the experimental knee joint degeneration model.
