Objective: To observe the effect of the sucralfate and cimetidine on hospital acquired pneumonia in aged esophageal cancer patients. Methods: 176 patients with the age ranging from 60 to 79 were randomly divided into cimetidine group, sucralfate group and comparison group. The hodoromisl pneumonia incidence of the three groups after the esophageal radical operation was observed. Results: The hodoromisl pneumonia incidence of sucialfate cimetidine and comparison groups were 8.6%, 30.7%, 10.7% respectively. Cimetidine group compared to sucralfate and comparison group, there was statistical significant difference, and no statistical significance in sucralfate group compared to comparison group. Conclusion: Sucralfate could probably displace cimetidine in aged postoperative patients with esophageal cancer.
